Actually, Mopar makes a bolt-on single recovery hook the goes on one side of the fuel tank and mounts on the shield bolts, BUT it's no longer in production. It's Mopar Part Number 82204487 $59.00 kit includes a bracket, hook and bolts. Black color. It can't be mounted with a trailer hitch at the same time and it wasn't publicized so nobody knew about it. It's got a 4000 lb tow limit. The tailpipe gets in the way on the other side.
This is information from wjjeeps.com
There's also wkjeeps and wk2jeeps, although I haven't found one for ZJs.
I got that one from Quadratec. I think it was $35. I used a 5/8" grade 12 bolt with jamb nut and stainless steel safety wire to prevent theft. It's a little rusty from 2 NY winters.

A Class IV hitch installed with a receiver like Dave's, my 04 WJ came with 2 chrome hooks in the front I carry a receiver like Dave has in my bag of recovery gear in the cargo area.
I might suggest you do the same so someone helping you does not use any chains to pull you out as you have recovery straps/D-Rings.

My model wasn't blessed with front tow hooks. I could buy a kit to add them, but it requires taking the front fascia off to install them. They also have a 4000 lb tow limit which is the basic weight of the vehicle. That doesn't take into account any obstructions in the recovery. I figure the only reason I'll need recovery points is if I put it in a ditch in the snow, which will probably be head first! Recovering someone else involves liability for BOTH parties which I'd rather not get involved with, but will if need be.
My brother once tried to pull somebody out of a ditch with his truck. He had the other driver hook up the chain to his car and he had to ****** him to get enough traction. The chain popped off and went thru the truck's rear window, just missing my brother's head! ENOUGH! Wait for the tow truck! Sometimes the Good Samaritan gets the sharp end of the stick.
