Have you ever spent time diagnosing a problem, buying and installing a part, only to have the same problem? HA!! who hasn't?
My left turn signal is intermittent, and ONLY the left turn signal. It started in the cold dead of winter and only effected the signal until the cab warmed up, then it worked fine. I discovered if I turned the signal on, then the hazard flashers, turned the flashers off while the signal was lit, it would work from then on until it got cold again. Then it started not working whenever it damned well pleased. When in a heavy traffic intersection I'd turn my hazards on and use my arm signal. I figured it was the multi-purpose switch, so I bought one. It was fine for 3 days but now is doing the same thing.
When I changed the switch, I used contact cleaner and canned air to blow out the wiring connector. It seemed clean and bright. Now I'm thinking one of the contacts has lost it's grip on it's pin, so I'll have to check that out.
Anyone else have this problem? It's acting like a wife with a grudge. I got stopped by a cop who witnessed my arm signal and asked about it and I had to explain the whole thing to him. He wasn't amused and told me to get it fixed. Yeah, okay, whatever you say, officer.
