yeah that is the bumper support since you guys have plastic bumpers it need's some steel behind it to help in the crash. you could just bend it back but i would suggest getting a new one or one from the junk yard with no damage.

I was thinking of bending it back but there is split in it due to it moving back. Would bending it back be a okay temporay move until i manage to find a new one?

that is your bumper. the front plasitic is just a cover and the foam is a spacer and absorbs some light damage. Can you take pics of your damage? I just built a bumper on mine and I don't think that piece really comes off. I thought it was welded on. I would look at straighting it reinforcing it from the back maybe. hard to say without seeing how bad it is.

Default the pic of my bumper

Okay so today i popped off the bumper cover and found that the damage isnt nearly as bad as i though. I do however need to get a new header pannel. this pretty much was the only picture i could get for some reason, but it does show how its bent back alittle and the small tear in the medeal

that's not to bad when you bend it out i would weld in a 1/8 inch or lighter plate behind it. that way it will be stronger and not bend so easy if you bump something again

Welding a plate for support would definitely give your bumper a much stronger feature.... Much better than just bending it...

be careful welding it and making it stronger, it is designed to collapse and chagning that will change how it behaves in a crash and could result in your or someone else's injury and then you being liable for it. That being said I have an ARB on mine which changes it too but the underlying sturcture is not modified so hopefully the crumple zones will still function as designed.

Ya right and putting a huge arb bumper or any aftermarket bumper is not changing the strength of the front end. I say straighten that piece out, reenforce it with something behind. If you can't get it welded then use a pop riviter and put something flat and a bit heavier behind it. The put your bumpber cover back on. In a real crash its the unit body that is going to take the hit, not that little bit of sheet metal.

Hey I admitted I had an ARB on mine and that it would change, just pointing out the facts so that the original OP will make an informed decision, I would figure that if I was in an accident that I caused that my bumper owuld be called into question, just something I choose to live with.
