Can someone tell me if this is a ISY or ESY?

I think the bottom picture is where shaft goes in to the transfer case and yes a 249

Not an SYE, I don't think they make them for the 249.

I know I was just wondering if it was an internal or external slip yoke. I'm not familiar with them yet..

It's an internal slip yoke. The driveshaft slides in a spline in the t/case tailshaft. An external slip yoke bolts to a flange on the back of the t/case.

My '97 ZJ 242 had an external slip joint so when my rear diff blew up, I just pulled the rear shaft and drove it home on the front axle, not losing any fluid in the process.
