Default Roof Rack Noise?

I know, I know. This has been asked and answered 7,000 times already, but I'm new here, so I'll ask it yet again: If I remove the roof rack from my 2001 Laredo will there be increased road/wind noise, or is that just an urban legend?

I'm asking because I'm about to get the car painted and would like to remove the rack if there's no noise increase.

Tanks for assisting a newbie!

Hello and welcome to CF!

Urban legend? IDK, I've never heard that one. Seriously, why would cleaning up the airflow over the vehicle increase wind noise? If you're going to leave it off, you'll have to cover the mounting holes with a fascia strip however.

Removing roof rack will dramatically reduce wind noise, especially if it is full size rack.
