Free I shut the jeep off I get a knocking / tick for about 30 sec and a noise like a vent moving in the dash ????

 

It's a 01 grand Cherokee limited 4.7

 

Probably an actuator motor with a stripped gear.

 

After you shut down the engine, the heater control closes the air doors to the outside. This is normal if the heater has been on, although 30 seconds is a long time for this. You may also hear a whining as the cooling fan spins to a stop. Another normal sound is the canister purge solenoid clicking on cold startup to clear vapors out of the carbon canister.

After owning a WJ for 5 years, I'm used to the normal noises. It took me a while to figure them out myself.

 

My 04 WJ does the same thing, it took me several years to get used to it.
