Default Right Front Hardline

I was moving the right front line to stop a rubbing and the hardline broke. Is there a diagram or pix that show the routing or how to so I know what I am getting into? I like to have a plan before I start. I did find some info that it is 6ft. Thanks. Jim

brakeline? Take it out and use it to make a new one. Copper-nickel tube is easy to work with. You maybe need to let it go on outside/front of the ECU, if you do that its easy to get it in place.

Yes brakeline. I wasn't able to check yesterday but is it visible underneath? Thanks. Jim

underneath? mine was going up in the engine. I cut it over the ECU to remove it, and then i used the two as a template to make a new one. I did make the new one as the old one all the way to the ECU, there i only made a bend so it goes down in front of the ECU. Dont cut it at that end, wait until you have all in place and then cut.

That sounds great being on top. I was in the middle of another job and simply wanted to move the soft line. Another odd thing I thought was when I went to move the GC I had zero brake and no ebrake. I have always had a feeling that the braking was poor. I am wondering if the rears are working because I figure I still should have had some braking. Am I wrong? The cable probably needs to be adjusted too. Thanks. Jim

I had a chance to go out and look. As you said on the firewall. A lot nicer than working on my back. I thought about piecing in the bad piece with 2 flares and a coupler but kinda hacky. I will replace the whole thing. Thanks. Jim

Yes, it wasnt very hard to replace the whole line. Remember that the flare at the abs pump is different. Remember to put on the nut and flare the end on the line (ABS pump) before doing the last bend if the last bend is close to the nut.

I was not aware of the different flare. I was going to get a line from the parts store and bend it. I guess that wont work? Thanks. Jim

You may have to use the old flarenut at the ABS because when I did mine, I couldn't fine anybody that sold new ones that size. I had to replace the left front line. the PO had replaced the right one and had just gone up and across the engine compartment at the firewall. That seemed the simplest way to me.

the abs side is a bubble flare, the caliper end is double flare.
you can get a short coated line that has double on one end and bubble on the other, then just get a coupler to join the two lines.

i've done this in my tj recently.

The line seems to be in good shape across the firewall. Maybe I will double flare it there and use the coupler. That way the bubble goes unaffected. Save me a ton of time bending the whole new tube too. Thanks. Jim

EDIT: What is the thread on the GC brake line nuts?

I ended up replacing the whole line in 2 pieces. I was looking for the line to adapt a bubble to double flare and found a brass fitting that did the job. I need to bleed them and hope all is well. Thanks for all the help. Jim
