'95 ZJ Vacuum Problem - Diagrams Included

'95 ZJ Vacuum Problem - Diagrams Included

Hi All:

I’m a bit confused between these 2 representations of the vacuum lines on my 95 ZJ (5.2 V8).

The main vacuum diagram from the Chrysler service manual shows lines running from the Evap Purge Solenoid to the EGR Valve and to the Evap Canister in two separate directions via separate lines:

and yet the Purge Solenoid shows the vacuum lines (in blue and green – color added by me) as spliced/taped together (in red) and both curving back toward the EGR Valve:

Under the hood of my ZJ it more closely resembles the routing shown in the purge solenoid pic, yet the line that is supposed to go to the canister (in green) is NOT spliced/taped to the EGR (blue) line and is floating free and not connected anywhere nor is it sealed/capped off.

My question is how do I best address this free-floating vacuum line? Does it need to be routed to the evap canister (and if so, how?) or can I just cap it off and anchor it to the EGR line to keep it contained and out of the way?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions – these conflicting diagrams are driving me batty.
