Default Which rear differential do I have

I have a 1997 grand cherokee laredo with quadratrac all time 4 wheel drive and a 5.2 liter V8 and I'm trying to determine if I have a Dana 35c or a Dana 44 rear differential

should be the Dana 44 since it's a V8

The "a" stands for aluminum. The center housing is cast aluminum and not as strong as you'd think.

No, I got the Turdy-5. At 188K miles, it's just now starting to whine (just a little) at 65 mph under power. Let off on the throttle and it goes away. The only torture it gets is my weekly load of newspapers. It's only had WOT about 3 times in the 65K that I've owned it. Once to save me from getting hit by an 18 wheeler!
