OK big weird problem
Hey y'all Arkansas red neck here. Gotta big problem and I'm at a dead end. My blower motors not working and I'm going thru and trying to figure it out. I started with buying and installing a new motor but that wasn't the problem so I started going thru a system check got no voltage to the resistor so went to check the switch. Here's where I'm stuck my 93 doesn't match up to what it show's in my clymer book. The resister looks nothing like the resister in the book and the ac/ heater control unit looks nothing like it does in the book. I took the center control bezel off, and went to take the unit out to test the switch, but the unit won't come out and I can't test the switch...... Help please.

Welcome to CF!
First of all, what do you have, a Cherokee or a Grand Cherokee? Do you have dual zone climate control? Have you checked the fuses? Is the resistor connector fried? Has the fusible link on the resistor popped?
I only have hands-on experience with a 97 ZJ and a 2000 WJ, but I'm familiar with the circuits. The resistor in my 97 had exposed coils, but the one in my WJ the coils were enclosed in a ceramic block. Most aftermarket fan motors come with only 2 wires and you have to make sure you wire them with the right polarity so they run in the right direction.
About removing the dash unit, I don't have a clue!

thanks for your response. It's a 93 jeep grand Cherokee lorado. All I did was first start by replacing the blower motor, not working. Then tested resistor for voltage, nothing. Then went to the switch, nadda. The resistor looks like it's open coils the book shows enclosed. The control panel looks like a big unit that's attached in back as well as in front. But what shows in the book is a unit that's smaller and detaches from the front and guages are attached to that where switch can easily tested. The unit I have looks like the front panel is attchached to a circuit board. I'm sure the fan motor switch is fried, or the whole unit must need replaced. I'm not sure how to test the switch kn this kind of unit. I heard there's a problem in the wiring harness that the wires to the switch overheat and overheat and render the system inoperable

One thing I DO know is the connector on the resistor will melt and cause the fan to not work. It's entirely possible it toasts the switch as well.

I just checked my manual and the blower motor switch is the ground for all the wires that come off the resistor, grounding only whichever wire corresponds to the speed you want it to run at. SO, you must have power in the motor that's grounded thru the resistor. That power comes from the MODE control, the switch that sends the air to where you want it to go. When it's all the way to the left, it turns the blower motor off. Was that switch on when you checked for power?
