Hey all, I have an '03 grand Cherokee with the 4.0 engine, 230k miles and it's giving me issues... I was headed to work the other morning and went to hit the gas after a stop sign and the gas pedal didn't work but the engine was running normal. Then as I pulled off to the side of the road the entire dash lit up like it does when you turn the battery on before turning it over and the the engine shut off. No sputtering, no miss fires, just shut off like I had turned the key off... It has no warning lights on, maintenance is current, and it is not running ANY codes. I was able to start it back up but it ran like **** for about 10 seconds before dying again. Can't get it to start up again, still no codes.. Any ideas what's going on? Any help is very appreciated!

 

Sounds like the complete loss of electrical power to the computer for an instant, then totally. Check your battery cables and clamps. Of the 2 red wires coming out of the positive one, the heavy one feeds just the starter and the smaller one feeds everything else thru the PDC, or fuse/relay box under the hood. If the computer (PCM) doesn't get a full 12v, it shuts everything down.
