K so I'm getting this strange noise from under my feet, it's almost like a rattle. It happens on acceleration but when I hit the gas hard it will stop and start erratically. It will stop when I let off the gas or when it shifts. My jeep is a 2004 wj with 172,000 miles. Any idea where I should start looking?

Well I think I found out where it's comming from. The rod in this picture has play in it. How do I fix it?

What's the fix? My rear has no play bet the front does. I'll post a video of it.

You need to replace your u-joints in your drive shaft. http://www.stu-offroad.com/axle/ujoint2/ujoint-1.htm It's much easier if you have a press or a vice. I used the socket method to bang out the u-joints and it was not fun.

I guess it's the u joint? Do I replace both on the front? Anything else I should replace while down there?

Should there be no play at all in the front drive shaft?
