Default Just purchased a new GC! Need help!

I'm about to purchase a grand cherokee and the original owner told me the 2nd and 4th piston needs to be replaced, and that he's putting a certain type of synthetic to make it last a few more weeks so I can use it as a daily driver (he was a mechanic so I took his word). I plan on getting this fixed in the next week, but I'm going to pick it up tomorrow and I was curious how much roughly it would cost to have both those pistons replaced. $500? $1000?

More cost effective to replace the engine with a used one.

The current engine only has 125k miles on it, but truthfully how much would that run me? I have the funds I've always wanted a grand cherokee and I plan to treat this car as my child!

this is most cost efficient your gonna put a couple of new parts in with a bunch of old parts not really smart choice a used running motor would be best bet or a complete rebuild of yours.

Since you say it's a Grand, what motor are we talking about? What year is the Jeep?

Typically when there are parts of and engine that are worn out or need replaced, there's a good chance that many other parts are needing replaced too- even though it has "low" mileage.

I might suggest you steer clear of this one unless the price is so good you could afford a new motor. The real problem is that the Grands aren't holding their value as well as other Jeeps. I'm finding WJ's for under $5K in my area, and would love to have one if I could afford the fuel for it.

Yeah more information would be nice. I bought one with the high output 4.7 and had to replace both heads, There went $800 not including gaskets. but I also only paid $1500 for it lol
