Here is ghetto flip up LCD currently installed:

Removed fascia and pulled existing radio and cut out the top of the radio bracket this includes the attachment at the edge of the dash and the two clips that hold the top of the fascia on:

Here is the stuff I cut out:

Put existing radio back in and fascia still looks original so you can easily put stock back into sell and buy a new fascia from JY:

While waiting for new unit to arrive, should be Thursday, Friday at the latest, I fabbed up some aluminum brackets:
Started with flat crafters aluminum sheets from hardware store, 10" x 4" x 0.032"
Made two side by bending them at right angles with 1" front and 5 3/4" sides, made two of these. To give it lateral strength I made a bottom plate that is 7" wide and has to sides each 1 1/8" tall. Have not drilled any holes, will do that once unit is arrived and I can fit it all in the dash and align it.
Couple of pictures of the preliminary frame to mount the nav unit:

Here is the install of the unit. Trimmed sides to fit unit, drilled holes in mounts, wired it up and slipped it in.

This will detail the finishing of the fascia once the radio is installed.
Here is what I started with now for some glass:

some glass, plastic and a lot of sanding later it is getting close

Some finishing sanding and some paint and it will be done. Will add those when it is dry.

I think I am done for now, pretty satisfied with outcome. It is a little shiny yet, but I used a matte black, looks shinier than it really is.
