Default Having trouble locating the correct e-fan

I have a 2000 WJ with the 4.0 I6. I’ve been searching for a replacement radiator fan, and I’m having some issues. Mine has the towing package, which means it came with both a clutch fan, and an electric fan with a 4 pin connector. All the replacements I have found are 2 or 3 pin connectors for w/o towing. Do you guys know where to find the correct fan, or is there a work around mod that y’all are comfortable with?

Early WJs had all sorts of weird fan setups. Mine is a 2000 4.0 w/o towing, built in August of 99 and sold as a 2000 model. It has only an e-fan with a 2 wire connector that is powered by a pulse modulated relay that controls the speed. Some later models had a 3 wire connector controlled thru 2 relays and ran at 2 speeds. I was told by a dealer that my model with the tow package had a clutchfan and a 2 wire e-fan that was controlled by the PCM to run only on high when needed. I've never heard of or seen a 4 wire e-fan.

Some of the 4.7 V8s have a hydraulic fan and they are junk. They leak and are expensive to replace.

Thank you for your reply. You’re right, I read your comment and ran right out to look for another connection. I had assumed that the fan plugged directly into the relay behind the headlight, it didn’t even occur to me that it plugged into the harness someplace else. (Newb) I went ahead and ordered one off of Summit. Thanks again for the info. The part number I got from the stealership is:52079528ab , in case anyone else wants to know.

Glad you don't have that pulse relay. They get hot from the constant high speed pulsing and burn out. I used bedding compound for computer chips to help cool mine after it burnt out twice! So far, this one has lasted almost 100K miles!
