Default Electrical fan issues

I've been running just clutch fan for a while now the electrical fan does not seem to come on. Today I got my hands on another fan And I decided to put it in the jeep and see if anything would change...still nothing. I checked the fuses, one looked dirty (not blown), I put a newer one in. I'm gonna keep tinkering with it, good thing I don't necessarily NEED it, but I would like to have it. Anyone have any suggestions?

How does the wiring harness to the fan look? Maybe find the fan pin out and safely power it directly from a 12V supply. To insure you don't have two bad fans. It's possible and needs to be ruled out.

Yep. That's the very next step.

Not sure what year you have, I believe this applies to the 00 and 01 as well.

from what else I have read on this site. The 00-01 xj's are a little different as the elec fan does not initiate when the AC is turned on. It cuts on at about 218F. at least that is what I got from what I read from others. I have a new radiator, water pump, thermostat, hoses, etc. I run at about 208 steady. So maybe its just normal for the fan not to be on? Am I right or is there actually a malfunction.

yea the fan won't come on at all until you reach 218F. They designed the 00-01 to run a little hotter then previous years. You are also correct about the e-fan and AC interlock, the fan does not function with the AC. If your looking at the gauge, 218F is when the needle is like a millimeter over 210F. If your not getting above the 210 mark, the fan won't run. When you have a good functioning cooling system the e-fan usually doesn't run. At least not in the winter. I just replaced all of my cooling system components over Christmas break. My e-fan doesn't run either. Before replacing it always ran. There was some component, be it the water pump, fan clutch, etc that was out of spec. At stop lights my temp would creep up and kick on the e-fan, rinse and repeat. I would say you are good to go.

If if you are still worried, you could still bump test the fans you have with 12VDC. Maybe some peace of mind. But I think your okay.

For the 2000/2001 XJ's, the radiator electric fan turns on at 223*F coolant temp and turns off at 217*F.

Here's the 2000/2001 AC switch functions:
