Old fart with a wrench
I have something new today. Has anyone had their GC shake, and make bunch of noise after going through 8-9" of water? It scared the hell out of me at first, like a motor mount broke, making scraping noises, shaking like crazy, then nothing. I had issues last year with ice but not like this. I have it thawing out, but has anyone had anything similar to this after drudging through some water?

Where does this vacuum line go?
I recently got a friend to swap the 4.0 engine out of my 1994 grand cherokee. It got to -15c and the next morning I could not start it. I swapped out the coil and still no start. It almost feels like it is flooded? but after sitting all weekend it still no start. I found this line,

1998 Grand Cherokee Serpentine Belt Ticking noise (with video).
I have a 98 Grand Cherokee, which has developed a rather weird sound, which corresponds to the serpentine belt or power steering pulley (to the best I can deduce)? The Jeep runs fine, idles fine, there is no performance reduction whatsoever; however, there is a rather obnoxious ticking sound that resonates from the serpentine belt seeming to want to walk off of the power steering pulley. When the hood is closed, at idle speed, it sounds as though there are dice being shaken in a plastic cup, (tick, tick, tick); there is no squealing from the belt itself, and there is no chirping from the idler pulley at all. At highway speed, you cannot hear the tick.
To add more confusion to the mix, I had the Jeep towed to Jeep about three weeks ago, in order to have this problem analyzed and the accommodating serviced performed. The notes from the mechanic read “Performed inspection did not find any loose bearing, or damper issues. Removed belt to inspect, belt inspected ok, reinstalled belt, road tested 12 miles, no problem.”
I don’t know if Mopar/Jeep simply did not want to do the work, or if the Mechanic honestly didn’t want to do the work; however, this ticking noise is completely new and not typical.
Below is a YouTube link to better illustrate the annoyance. It almost appears as though the serpentine belt is not aligned with the notched power steering pulley and somehow skipping the grooves on the pulley itself…
Thanks in advance to anyone chiming in to offer ideas on the culprit. If you have any questions, let me know.

Part Name Question
Gentlemen,
I'm looking for the name for the part on my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with the 4.0L. It's next to the fuel rail, and appears to be a wiring run for the engine coolant temp sensor. Need to replace it because it's cracked but I can't find the name of it. It's the long plastic strip that runs the length of the engine right next to the valve cover. Help me out. Please. Thanks.

That is a fresh air intake from the air filter box. The CCV is in the rear part of the valve cover and connects with the intake manifold just behind the throttle body. You can try grabbing it with needle-nose visegrips and putting a tiny bit of brake fluid around it to soften the rubber, then pull slowly and gently, wiggling it around until it comes out. Be sure to install the new one while the rubber is still soft.
It's called a CCV or crankcase vent because it's just an orifice, not a metering valve like in some cars. The PCM calculates the vacuum leakage thru it when controlling fuel mixtures. You can clean it occasionally by spraying throttle body cleaner into the hose followed by air pressure.
