Default Dealer, warranty, work questions

Hey folks, I own a 2012 WK2 Overland. I ended up buying a lifetime/unlimited mile warranty - and I needed it. Air suspension compressor, alternator (and subsequent fried computer) and wiring harnesses, defective wiring harness under driver's seat, bad thermostat - now at 135,000 I am back at the dealer for warranty work and general maintenance. I would greatly appreciate if you could navigate me through some choices....

1. Dashboard leather is dying - I know, I know, I am not the only one. Leather dash is buckling up bad - anyone ever hear of the warranty covering it?

2. Costs - Dealer in VA (Safford) wants to charge me $450 for the spark plugs and wires, $570 for brakes and rotars, is it me or is that really high - even for a dealer?

3. How bad is the spark plug change on the 2012 (I did a 2008 and the rear plug was pretty bad to get to)

I plan on driving this thing until it is dead or I am, so re-sale value is not that important to me

1. You would have to read the fine print of the warranty. Another guy had this problem.

2. All 4 wheels for brakes and rotors? I also never worked on any of the new models so I have no idea how long the process can take. However, I don't see the reason you need to take to a dealer to do brakes and plugs. Any reputable mechanic will be able to do it cheaper. Shop around. Call and get prices.

3. No idea.

Sorry, I hope I helped or can help some.

Those are special iridium spark plugs and are expensive and the brake job is about average for a dealership. I know it feels like you've just been raped, but that's the reality. Some dealerships start with a $100 electrical diagnosis fee even when it doesn't need it. I needed a serpentine belt idler pulley and had to have the jeep in the next 6 hours, so I took it to a dealer. They hit me with that F-ing charge anyway! The service manager said they do that to EVERY car when it comes in. I never went back to THAT one.

You can probably get the brakes done cheaper at a repair shop. The leather dash isn't real leather. My 62 Chrysler 300 convertible had a leather dash and full leather seats. I had no problems with it, but I had to oil it occasionally.
