dash light issues
1997 grand Cherokee Laredo
my dash lights when lights are on flash go dim then off then low then back on really annoying especially at night i am trying to find the ground for the isterment cluster someone said a bad ground so got the cluster out and i have one plug was going to take the ground and run a new wire but dont want to hit wrong wire so 2 questions wiring diagram for dash cluster and with the dash lights recommend replace headlight switch?

There is a common ground that goes to the firewall... I would check that first, make sure it's getting good contact. Might not have to run new wires, just clean and put back. Check out cruiser54.com for more info. It's not renix specific, lots there can help

It's probably just the dimmer slide switch. My 97 did the same thing. I just soldered a resistor bypass on it.
Thanks I have managed to track down the problem the ground at the connector on the back of the headlight switch and dimmer and fog light switch cluster the ground wire isnt making a good connection on the pins I can make the dimming and flicker happen by pulling on the black ground at the switch so not sure how im going to fix going to town to see if i can get a replacement switch or even a new 16 pin connector.
