Welcome to CF!

As long as your gauge is working and you're not overheating, ignore it. That's what I did with my 97.

Very common problem. Its the VIC display unit itself giving the false alert. Flakey circuitry. Some folks have pulled the unit apart and re-soldered everything. That or ignore it, or just unplug the VIC.

The coolant sensor just monitors temperature. It doesn't change the coolant flow in any way. The VIC just alerts you to a possible problem, but sometimes it's wrong.

I'm just passing on stuff I learned myself. This is only my second jeep and I learned the hard way on my first. It was a POS when I bought it, but I was in love. I paid $1500 for it, put $3000 into it, and it was STILL a POS! The chassis got salt cancer and broke apart. I sold it for $600 for parts. I learned the hard way! It was a 97 ZJ with brand new tires that I couldn't use on my WJ.

Hey, you know what? I just had a brain fart! That coolant sensor that's bad is the reservoir float in the tank. My 97 had the same message until I replaced that float sensor. I had a senior moment, slow recall.
