There are some older jeeps available but they are hiding in National Guard storage barns and you must know someone to even smell one! You might see one in a parade.

dave1123,
Well we're off the original topic but it was your thread, so:
The US Post Office had a type of jeep (DJ5's) that was fun to drive. Door would slide open to the rear and lock. Fun drive 60 mph w/door open down to the floor! (WEAR SEATBELTS)
I think they stopped in the 70's but still see a few available on line.
I don't think they were very rugged (more of a toy, but fun). Hit curb, broke the wheel kingpin, reportedly no replacements, so I junked it.
File under historic jeeps

Yes, and they were aluminum. Not very rugged. I only said what I did to stress the point that ALL vehicles are getting more and more electronics in them to the point that they are discussing going to 24 volt systems!
For the longest time we got along with 4 gauges and a few lights to see our way. Then someone decided they needed a radio! Even THAT was considered a driver distraction. Where will it all end?
In a nutshell, I'm having trouble understanding the systems in my jeep NOW. No more for me.

The chime module in my '94 ZJ was a small, orange-colored box under the dash. I don't know where it is on the '99-'04 WJ's, it's hard to pinpoint where the chimes come from, trust me, I've tried.

Well, it's all water under the bridge now. I put the ABS fuse back in and it stopped giving me the stupid chime. I'm going to try unplugging the ABS pump and see if THAT works.
