My check engine light has been on due to a cylinder 2 missfire for quite some time...last Thursday i went to the car wash and Saturday the light went off..no codes...its been off ever since!!! WTH

It probably was carbon buildup on a spark plug that eventually burned away. Problem gone, no light.

It will stay on for a period of time until the PCM decides the problem won't occur again, then it turns it off. OR you can clear it with a scanner when you fix the problem. I tend to read the codes, write them down, then clear them and see if they repeat. I've got one 02 sensor with an intermittent heater. The sensor is functioning but about once every 2 or 3 months it sets a code for the heater. It could be a bad connection in the plug but I haven't checked it yet. You can get a good scanner for around $100.
