Thanks for the help! Blowing ice cold ac now so nice to have it! Dash came out easy didnt have to take out the airbags, or remove the steering wheel! Just pull the dash back far enough to slide the HVAC box out did my work then slid it back in!
I wrote here about 10 days ago with A/C problems. 1st they replace the compressor ($300 with my parts) and then they replaced the hoses ($400 with their parts). When the air was still not cold they decided it must be the evap coil ($1000 - apparently there is no way to confirm this is the real problem).
Well I gave the guy such a hard time about his mechanical methodology (or lack thereof) that, before replacing the evap, he made one more pass over all the fittings and tightened everything up. Then he put lots of yellow die in and gave it a good charge. After 10 days the A/C is still blowing cold.
I 'helped' the guy when he was tightening things up and I pointed out to him that there was a lot of yellow die around what I believe he called the 'switch'. It was an electrical like connector going/coming from the compressor. It looked like it was loose maybe. Can you lose freon from that switch ?
Thanks.

Hello Ol"blue, it seems that you have been a great help to many people on this thread. I need to replace the evap core on a 2002 grand cherokee limited and would really appreciate the info you have. Thanks in advance.
