Thats what i have been using. i printed it off at work. It Helped out a lot. I just wanted to be sure i had enough room w/o removing the steering wheel.
Its amazing how much help this write up is.It saved me about $800 in labor. After doing it now, I would do it for some one for around half that. I have access to an air conditioned shop.
This is where I am now. After i get the box out. I am held up till monday waiting on the evaporator. The first place i ordred from ended up not having it. I just hope i have it back together by friday for my trip to Blue Ridge.

Thanks everyone for all their help and info on this thread. I am finishing up this job and went to test out all the electricals before putting everything back together and find out that everything works fine except the radio only works on blower fan speed 1. On other speeds it shuts off. Also if I don't use the HVAC at all the radio works fine. I put in a brand new blower resistor also but to no avail. Any ideas or thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Just registered, looking for a tech write up to troubleshoot my daughter's 97 Grand Cherokee, 4.0 A/C issues before I tear into the dash. Just before the blower quit, it would blow some days, others nothing. When it did blow, air was cool. It's the manual thermostat control. I've checked the 40 amp fuse in the power center under the hood, its ok. She's had the common passenger floor leak from the fire wall for a while, which I found great write up and plan to fix. Wandering if the water leak could have shorted or corroded the wiring? A troubleshooting tech guide is what I really need, with pics and diagrams. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

I am retarded. I just didn't have enough charge in the battery and that's what was causing all the funkiness. Once I charged it up and started the jeep all was fine. Thanks again.

Glad to hear that's all it was. Maybe you should have the alternator and battery checked out, along with the condition of the cables.

Ol'blue: You don't happen to have a writeup for replacing the a/c evap core on a 1995 Grand Cherokee Limited do you? Need to replace mine thanks!

Thanks!! It definitely helped out! All the other writeups I had were for XJ's and not a ZJ, so obviously parts/steps were different along the way. Reassuring that when we got to the core tonight the "leak test" dye was below it in the housing/case so it truly was the culprit for my leak. Figure while we're this far into the guts we'll replace the heater core also as it's also 15+ years old. Here's a lovely pic of the evap core -- definitely cleaning the housing out as there's a bunch of gunk inside.



Read earlier in this post about putting another screen in under the hood area to help keep leaves/junk out of the system - great idea for anyone else deep diving into the replacement of their evap core.

Glad to be of help when/if I can. Great time saver/preventative maintenance to replace the heater core at the same time.
