Default bent tie rod, could use some advice

my tie rod (im pretty sure thats what its called im not exactly a mechanic) is totally bent outta shape and im gunna try to replace it today. it doesnt look like anything else is messed up but theres piece right before it connects to the wheel that looks like it might be a seperate peice, i dont think is messed up but do i need to replace it to anyway? and is there anything special i need to know before diving into something like this?

thanks alot

make sure to get an alignment afterwords, and just go ahead and save the head ache later and replace the tierod ends too. they like to go bad after work is done near them.

So, is it the tie-rod?

If so, it's a simple replace and just needs an alignment afterwards.

Price varies. Sears, Midas, most chains do an alignment for between $39-69 bucks.

If you check the phone book or newspaper, or those flyers we always throw away, sometimes the shops will have discount offers/coupons in there.
