beats me?
so, after flipping my xj, my boss gave me a wj for christmas. it was towed from somewhere here in town and never picked up by the owner. as soon as he gave it to me i checked all fluids, went to the dealer and got all the info for the key, and went to the local locksmith and got one for $50. threw a hot battery in and it fired right up. idled fine and once it hit 210 degrees it stayed there. i took it for a test drive and all seemed fine, only looped the block once though. well, assuming i had nothing mechanical to worry about, i turned my attention to cleaning it. after i had all the previous owners crap in the dumpster, i figured id go for another loop around the block. thats when i ran into the first problem. after holding the throttle steady for a minute or two in gear(wont do it in neutral) it loses power and if you continue to hold the throttle, dies completely. however, it starts right up afterwards. also, if you let it idle, it has no problems, so its only under a load that it happens, and always after a minute or two of putting the load on it. any ideas?

Ive racked my brain with this one, tried replacing the tps, the map sensor, even pulled out an o2 sensor before the cat, hoping that maybe it was clogged up. I dont have a fuel pressure gauge, but im going to borrow one today. if anyone has an idea as to what may be causing this, i would love to hear it. and also, ow it even does it in neutral.

Mine did something similar although mines a 95 but mine had a bad coolant temp sensor and it would richin and lean out the fuel because it or would just totally kill it

Old fart with a wrench
Sounds like fuel starvation. (or a plugged cat) Check/change the fuel filter.
