Default Aw4 in a zj?

Will a xj aw4 bolt in to a zj? I've always wanted to build up a zj but the transmissions offered in them are problematic. I've had 2 zjs loved the size of them and the coil suspension all around but both had trans failure. I have a xj with a good running aw4 in it and was curious if I got a zj would it bolt in.

The AW4 came in the '93 ZJ's with the 4.0, though I believe it will physically bolt in the wiring is different, chances are you would need the wiring harness etc. from a '93 ZJ with the AW4 option. I have a '95 ZJ that is not OBDII and an AW4 out of a '98 XJ, I want to do the swap as well but from what I've read it's not an easy swap.

Ya Ive herd it's difficult gettin it to shift guess you have to swap the tcu and tps and also install a manual trans ecu.

I guess easiest bet would be to get a 93 with or without a good aw4 and start from there

I have an 89 xj that runs and drives if I did the swap to a zj I would probably just swap all the 89 electronics to the zj

By the time you're done with that, you could have bought 2 crate 42re's and kept one for a spare.

I may just try to find a 93 zj and build it instead of going through swapping
