So I'm going to have to replace the driver's side outside (exterior) mirror on my '02 Grand Cherokee WJ. I have a base Laredo (26E Package) WITH factory power mirrors AND a rear window defroster, but WITHOUT a factory driver's side heated mirror. We used to have another '02 WJ Laredo with the 28F Package that I remember had the heated driver's mirror. I would like to add one to mine, and was wondering if I could get a heated mirror from another WJ, and it would be plug and play with no additional wiring or control buttons.
Thanks,
Vince

It won't quite be plug and play unless you get all the wiring harness. But all you have to do is splice into the rear window defroster, which is on a timer and you will have it
I am kinda under the impression that heated mirrors are plug and play.
This makes me think that:

Thanks for the advice. Ralph, I think you're right regarding the swap, I forgot to look on wjjeeps.com. (D'oh!) I'm going to try and get a used mirror from an auto parts vendor off of eBay with defrost. I think the auto-dipping-in-reverse mirror that the wjjeeps website mentions WOULD require a wiring upgrade. As I mentioned, my parents had another '02 WJ Laredo (fancier than mine, with the 28F Package (leather, heated seats, Infinity Gold stereo with amplifier under the rear seat, security alarm, sunroof, etc.) vs. my base 26E Package), and it had a power heated mirror on the driver's side. Thanks for the help!

No problem. Just hope I am right. LOL.
Came across wjjeeps.com when researching putting power/heated seats in my XJ that did not come with them.
Not all '97 and up XJ's came with power/heated mirrors. Some are just power.
My understanding is that those would be plug and play too.
Mine came with power/heated mirrors so I never really delved into it.

Yeah I know in 1999, only the Limited WJ and XJ had heated seats as an option, and you had to get leather seats in order to get them. In 2000, the WJ Laredo started to offer heated seats (again, you still needed to get leather seats). In 2002, most Jeeps that came with leather seats also had heated seats. I doubt there's any wiring underneath the carpeting for power/heated seats if your Jeep didn't have them to begin with. Chrysler (or DaimlerChrysler, rather) really wasn't good about pre-wiring for stuff like that (we have 2 Ford Super Duty trucks that didn't come with rear speakers, but still has the plugs for them (we installed rear speakers in both trucks, as well as a new radio), so Ford was better at pre-wiring for stuff than Chrysler/DaimlerChrysler).
Was of no help to me but looked like a very informative site.
So when guys like yourself ask about doing stuff like this I always throw the WJ site out there. LOL.
I have already put the power/heated seats in my '00 XJ Sport. It is plug and play.
She was wired for them to a certain point. I just needed the power/heated seat harness (which connected to as far as she was wired for them), switches,
power bases and seats of course, a relay and the SHIM (Seat Heater Interface Module), and the 25 amp silver circuit breaker that goes in the Junction Box.
The relay and SHIM are attached to the passenger power seat base and there was an open slot for the circuit breaker.
In an '00 XJ if you can get all the parts it is literally one of the easiest options to add.
If you can get all the parts that is. MLOL.

What I wish was available is a heated steering wheel! I can have the heat on full blast but my steering wheel takes way too long to warm up. I can drive over 15 miles on the highway before it starts to get warm and by then I'm sweating.

The GC didn't get a heated steering wheel until the WK2 in 2011.

OH! WAIT! So the wheel is available? Now to figure out how to get that clockspring to work! I've seen heated covers, but you've got a crazy wire wrapped around the column. Not good at all.

I rented a 2016 Grand Cherokee for one day and I had to turn it back in because everything worked off a touchscreen and it was too confusing trying to manipulate it while driving down the road. It was in January and the heated seats and steering wheel was on high every time I started it! I learned how to shut it off each time, but not how to stop it coming on every time. It also had an electronic throttle that was just too touchy for my liking and I never found out how to open the second catch on the hood.
