So today I had a HUGE brain fart. I shut one of my subwoofer wires in my rear seat when I folded it up and it chafed the wire and caused the radio fuse under the dash to blow. Well stupid me wasn't paying attention and I immediately pulled the two fuses for the airbag and the seat belt sensor thinking that they were extras, I have no idea what I was thinking, clearly I wasn't. Well obviously it triggered the lights on the dash, now I cant get the lights to turn off. I put the fuses back in right away and I unplugged the battery for a minute or two hoping to reset it. Anybody know how to get the lights on the dash to go off? I know the system is fine, it just triggered them when I pulled the fuses out.

It will go off in time when it has enough key cycles without the issue or you can get the codes cleared

I was thinking/hoping that it would go off with key cycles, or running cycles, I just wasn't sure. Worst case scenario I have the codes cleared. I really need my own obd reader.

A basic OBDII scanner will not clear ABS or Airbag codes. The ones that can do that cost around $400. Just an FYI so you don't get a cheap reader and get let down.

Check pawn shops and eBay for used scanners, they can be found for about a hundred bucks.

dont just disconnect the battery for a minute, you need to drain the capacitor in the air bag module. You disconnect the terminals and tie the two cable ends together for up to 10 minutes. Air bag light should be off, will not reset with key cycles.

It went off today, the yellow plastic cradle that holds the two fuses was cracked and when I pushed them back in the first time they didnt go in all the way. Got that figured out and the lights went out. Careless work on my part. I was rushed to fix it cause family was visiting and I was the designated driver.

Yeah I was worried that I actually messed something up, that seems to be the common theme with this jeep, something breaks and I fix it, only to have something related break or go bad. Like when my water pump started leaking, I put a new one in and went to fill the rad back up and the petcock snapped off....luckily having my xj a little while ago conditioned me, so I am able to keep my patience when those things happen haha, and honestly I enjoy working on it. Atleast I can get my hands dirty until I can lift it and have some real fun.

Yeah, then you can beat the crap out of it and fix what you broke!
