Default 99GC tranny woes

Maybe you all will have an idea before I go breaking things...

My wifes GC's first gear shift is way higher than normal. It seems all other shifts are okay.

Its shifting high around 3 to 3500 rpms and hard. I have a check engine but not able to get the codes read just yet. Will try an get codes read later tonight or tomorrow.

Oh yeah, when it rains it pours. lol

Her AC is only blowing on the floor and window. The controls seems to be broke. Is it the hand controls thats broke ? Low to high is fine and the temp is freeze you to death. lol

Its a 99 4.0 with the part time full time transfer case and automatic. I will get the exact model numbers from them and slap it on here.

Is it a laredo or limited? That matters on the AC issue. For teh shifting have you pulled teh codes yet? You can go to a autozone or you can use the key trick. Turn the key on and off three times stopping in the on position rather fast. DO not hit the starter just to on. THe codes will flash in the odometer and you will get a done message when complete. If you have trouble try doing it faster. but it will display the codes that way.

3 or 4 will not matter if you go fast enough. not sure tranny codes will display bt should, at least you will always get a done when you do it right and it finishes. If you just get done and no codes but your check light is on then try an autozone or similar to get the codes read by a scanner.

Ok, its on the transfer case and what would cause it to malfunction ?
Would that cause the tranny to shift hard and at a higher rpm from 1st to 2nd shift ?

I gotta roll, I will cehck in on with you all in the mornig.

My 97 did this, i think it was in 2nd but it would always go into high revs then after awhile of driving just stop doing that, Idk what your problem is.

no it is the output of the trany not the TC. No sensors in TC. There are two sensotrs inthe tranny an inpout and output sensor. Usually replace both at teh same time to be safe. Not expensive and you can do it yourself. Get mopar sensors.
