Default 95 Grand Cherokee Transmission

I need a little help. I recently had to change out the radiator in my 95. I needed to replace one of the cooler hoses, and when I went to the parts store to get it, the one for a 95 didn't match up with what I had. My question is this, is there any way to tell what year vehicle the transmission came out of?

It has the 4.0, but I need to to find out what year the tranny is. I need to replace the speed sending unit, but I don't think it is the original tranny, and don't know how to find out the year it is.

Ok, next question. My speedometer works sometimes, sometimes it jumps around all over the place. Is this the vehicle speed sensing unit or the transmission speed sensor?

I'd say the vehicle speed sensor. The trans speed sensor is for the TCM to use in it's computing, along w/other sensors. I'm not 100% though, wait for others to reply.

Would the vehicle speed sensor cause the transmission to shift funny too? Will a sensor for any of the 93-98 models work?

If it's shifting too early or late, and isn't slipping, you may just need to adjust the throttle vale cable (kick down cable).

It shifts from 1st to 2nd fine, from second to third it doesn't want to shift, but if you take your foot off the gas for a few seconds it will shift to third fine. Then it shift from third to forth fine.

I'm not sure on trans issues. I did a search and found this similar issue. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/tranny-issue-127865/

This is from the ZJ FSM:

THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR (TPS)—4.0L
ENGINE—PCM INPUT
The throttle position sensor (TPS) is mounted on
the throttle body (Fig. 9). The TPS is a variable resistor
that provides the powertrain control module
(PCM) with an input signal (voltage) that represents
throttle blade position. The sensor is connected to the
throttle blade shaft. As the position of the throttle
blade changes, the resistance of the TPS changes.
The PCM supplies approximately 5 volts to the
TPS. The TPS output voltage (input signal to the
PCM) represents the throttle blade position. The
PCM receives an input signal voltage from the TPS.
This will vary in an approximate range of from .25
volts at minimum throttle opening (idle), to 4.8 volts
at wide open throttle. Along with inputs from other
sensors, the PCM uses the TPS input to determine
current engine operating conditions. In response to
engine operating conditions, the PCM will adjust fuel
injector pulse width and ignition timing.
