4.0 WJ 2000 - Oil Pressure gauge indicating high

Engine: 4.0 Petrol

4.0 WJ 2000 - Oil Pressure gauge indicating high

Normally oil pressure gauge shows between 3-4 bar but today noticed the needle goes to 5.4 and stays there.
Bad sender or sticking pressure relief valve ?
Engine has only done 87k miles.

Model: Grand Cherokee (WJ)

Engine: 4.0L

Check the pressure with a mechanical gauge and compare it with what the dash gauge shows you. I'd be willing to bet the sender is shot. When buying a new one, make sure it's for a 2000 because after 2002, it's just a switch the makes the gauge read 40 psi and nothing else. wjjeeps.com
