Default 2004 4.7 timing chain issues

Hello everyone, I have a project jeep that i bought not too long ago. It is a 2004 grand cherokee overland with the 4.7HO, its got 149k on it. I bought it with a broken chain tensioner. I replaced the tensioners and the Jeep ran fine for about 4 months. One night it died while i was driving. No violent shut down, but almost as if the fuel pump died. I checked the fuel pump and it was perfect with pressure. Out of curiosity I pulled the valve covers off, and put the engine at TDC. Both of the timing chains were exactly 3 links off from the timing marks. I had tore the engine down to find that the main timing chain was also three links off. So this had me thinking that I had mistaken something during install. so i ordered new tensioners, guides and chains from Cloyes.

fast forward to this week. I had reinstalled everything including torque values to the factory service manual. I started the vehicle, and it fired up instantly. After about 10 seconds of idling it began to idle rough, but wouldnt die. So i shut the engine off, and rotated it to TDC. I pulled the valve cover off and found that both chains are now 4 links off. What am i missing here?
