I use that same receiver shackle tab and so does Dukie... only I got a regular 3/4" d-ring shackle for mine because I was worried about that pin falling out on me and loosing my shackle. I've pulled with it, been pulled with it... don't worry, it's got plenty of beef.

Your wheels look awesome though... does remind me of the pintlers.

np man... yeah it looks a lot less goofy once you put a regular d-ring in it. I still have the clevis though in case anyone needs an extra shackle. No doubt at all that thing will be strong enough for some serious recovery.

He was trying to fix the ball back in place. I assume he broke it off somehow.

So, in case anybody has been wondering where I went... The short answer? Working a bunch of 7/8a-10-11p days. 7 days a week. Haha!
Long answer... I'm not really driving the Jeep anymore. My younger brother was looking to buy a Cherokee and I was looking for a car better on gas mileage and a little more enjoyable on pavement. So, I started to look. I wanted something cheap, reliable (close to the XJ in that aspect), better on gas, good aftermarket, etc.
I'm sure a few of you already have some of an idea of a car that fits all of these.
Please hold the gay jokes: the Mazda Miata. [emoji23]
So, yeah... I picked up a Miata with 88k miles on it from a very respected member of the Miata community. He's a really cool dude and he's done a lot of racing of Miatas.
I might cross post my build thread up over here if anyone is interested, in the other vehicles section. The XJ is still in my driveway, still in the family, etc. It'll be getting a mild lift some time soon, and I'll be helping out with that.
Meanwhile, I'm just happy to have my own vehicle that is 100% mine and titled in my name. Insurance was something like $8 a month.
I forsee myself getting another XJ sometime in the future. However, this one probably won't be a 2 door or 2wd. Maybe I'll just buy a POS and try to build it up as cheap as I can.
I'm sure my brother will be making a build thread at some point. I know he's been lurking on the forums.
Current status of the XJ? It broke down on the interstate on the way back from picking up my MX-5. Checked the codes after it got towed home and it's throwing a code for the CPS.
Sooooo, doubt anyone was curious... But that's what's been going on.

lol... actually, I was wondering.... but now I'm not. Hey, I'd be interested in your miata build though... I think they're pretty cool when built right. Especially the "Banshee" on Gearz with the 350 in it. Thing was awesome!

Got it cross posted. Sorry if there's any confusing stuff in there... I copied and pasted a lot of it from a local forum.

Nice. Daily driving an XJ is a painful thing to do. Nice choice with the Mazda. I have a 1990 Mazda 626LX that is my daily driver. It throws a fit every now and then, but nothing I can't handle. Very easy to work on and very reliable. I just drove it to New York and back (about 800 miles total) and got 31 mpg with it! 2.2L.
