EXTRA CONTENT ALERT!!!!
Inherited a fishing kit from a buddy of mine who did not take care of any of it. Has a pair of needle nosed pliers in it that were supposed to be stainless steel but are of course rusted shut. Smothered them in Kroil for a day but still couldnt muscle them open. Time to try some SCIENCE *kablam*
The victim:
The set up:
Plug it all in and BOOM: Electrolysis
Hopefully by tomorrow most of the rust will have melted away and I can use these pliers!

Sweet! lol... I just lay mine on the anvil part of my vise and smack it in the joint with a hammer!
Of course, that's a trick I learned from linemen. Every time you get a brand new pair of linemen's pliers, they're too stiff to use one-handed with the thick *** insulated gloves you have to wear... so the first thing we do is give 'em a few good whacks with a hammer so the jaws fall open on their own.

Sorry for the hiatus! Been busy with life. If anyone follows my IG then youll know that im still alive and well and have been working on this heep.
Dad brought his new to him 2001 sport down here for me to tune up in a sense so that has been my main focus for the past couple of weeks
Here we are starting out:
Found a little rust under the airbox so we painted that up
Ended up taking the valve cover off to put a new gasket on
And of course painted it
New starter went in
Final pics of the engine bay
Nothing really ground breaking done to his jeep. Mod/repair list are as follows:
62MM bored TB courtesy XJWonders
4 hole 703 injectors courtesy of my jeep
NGK spark plugs
Heat shield and fuel rail cover
Under hood light assembly
Front rotors and pads
Rear drums, pads and hardware
Diff fluid and paint
Gas hood struts
Starter
Air filter
PCV valves and grommets
Serpentine belt
painted everything i could
All in all it came out nice! Started up fast as heck, ran really smooth, and still stops so I call it success!!
He's got some serious rocker rust on the driver's side which is a major bummer alert so I told him I'd check into CF peeps out in Detroit to see if anyone could hack and weld him some new sides up. Thing only has 117K miles on it! I miss it already!

Gas hood struts!
So I trialed these on my dad's XJ and I wish that I would have bought the right self tapping screws at first because I just used what I had around my gargae and relaly screwed it up unfortunately. But before he left we had gotten everything bolted up nicely.
So the materials all can be found on the links below (except for the screws)
Struts:
Lower bracket:
Upper bracket:
And these screws worked perfectly
So as you can see below I used the rear bolt to whatever the heck this thing is in the back left/passenger's of the engine bay. I would say I was about a half inch (my thumbs width) from the crease
I tried to match the measurement on the other side (back right/driver's side) with my thumb as well
Then I placed one end of the strut onto the lower mounting bracket and extended the other end to the hood to see where it would match up in the full open position. As you can see it came right before this like diagonal cut in the hood crossmember
Like I said it was a little trial and error with my dad's and a couple times the hood wouldnt close due to having the lower bracket too far forward or the upper bracket too far down.
Full body view of the origin and insertion of the strut in the final fully opened position all bolted down
Hood flies right up when you unhook the latch. Just make sure you dont make it so the hood goes so high up that you cant reach it to pull it back down! Im 6'4 so it isnt a problem for me
A couple of the videos I watched to help me out
If there are any questions hit me up! super easy, relatively cheap and convenient

Tint!
Got the jeep limo tinted all around with a 40% ceramic tint on the windshield
I will say that the jury for me is still out on this one. Really nice during the day but a flying metal death trap at night as its such a pain in the butt to see anything. Plus I thought it would make my jeep cab cooler than it actually did and I will end up rolling the windows down because i sweat bullets with it all closed up (frickin mississippi). But at least I dont have to wear sunglasses anymore!!!
AC fix is gonna be my next endeavor.....

Last but not least my injector "upgrade"
So I mentioned in my dad's XJ we put the 4 hole injectors in. Well I used the oportunity to ditch my 4 holes, put them into his (with new pintle caps via jhc7399) and ordered 12 hole injectors from K Suspenion. More money than I was hoping to spend on injectors ($125) but its my hobby and I love it so I guess thats my justification.
I had asked in "special requests" section of my order to send me a doodle of an XJ. They didnt let me down!
Before:
Of course one had to be stuck...
New (red) vs old (black)
New shiny reds in
And all assembled and back in place
Reset the computer (allegedly) by touching my battery terminals together x30 seconds and then putting the ignition in the start position, turning my headlights on then off then taking the key out. Then I started the engine up, puttered a bit, then fired up no problem. Been running the new injectors for about a week, and to be honest I dont feel a stinking difference. Now I knew that the injectors wouldn't make much difference if any at all, but a little something would've been cool. Some peeps on IG said it'll take 50 start cycles before the VTEC really kicks in, but I'm skeptical so we shall see!
