Got the down pipe, front pipe and cat all bolted up. Fired it up and there is some god awful squeaking that sounds cyclical that starts up. It sure what it would be

 

Ayyyyyy forgot the tighten the serpentine belt enough. Now that I took care of that, it’s evident that I for sure need flange gaskets off the header. Sounds like a tractor when I accelerate lmao like I hear it in the cab. I’ll have to see if Napa or autozone have them cause orielys didn’t

 

Alright team. Its been a heck of a pain in the butt so far, as most of you warned me of. Coming to a close with the hard stuff, or so I figure. Waiting on those flange gaskets to come in tomorrow to install because Derek sounds like a tractor rn. Runs great! but is definitely on that tractor time. I am having some fitment issues with the last O2 sensor as the wires are bumping up against the front of the transmission and I reckon its only a matter of time before it gets rekt. But ill cross that bridge when i get there. Here is where Im at so far!

Good Job! I looked at the YouTube video and see what you mean about the O2 sensor - looks like it is very close to the bell housing. Someone here likely knows if a 45 degree thread-in fitting is available for the sensor bung. Someone here may also be able to identify how far out you can get the O2 sensor before it causes problems in providing an accurate reading. The option is to have a 45 degree sensor bung welded into the pipe or a new straight bung welded into a better location. A good muffler shop and any custom exhaust fabricator could do that.

 

Well hopefully those someones chime in! Ill see how the clearance looks once I install the gaskets. Would be a bummer to have to have a new bung welded but not the end of the world

 

Heep has been running well lately. O2 sensor is still pressed up against the bell housing but I havent had any issues with it as of late. The header is still getting red in some places but Im thinking it may be due to the header wrap. Haven't had anything short of smooth running so far. Ill see how it continues to run as I only run it during the weekends.

 

I was a marine machinist at the Philly Naval Yard. When that closed in 95 I got transferred to Ft Meade Md, and became a Gov driver till I got a freak injury in 09. Was out for a year, went back in 2010 for a year but couldn't handle the trucks and buses anymore. Put on disability Jan 2012. Now studying for my Comp TIA A+ certification. At 62 should be fun after I complete it and try finding a job.

 

That Comp TIA needs to be recertified every year now right? I still have my certificate and completed this back in like 1999.

 

I thought it was every two. Of course it may have changed. I don't know though, I've had mine since '02 so I've been "doctored in" just like you.

 

yea you might be right! Honestly its a entry level certification and I have not done anything with mine since '99. Plus I don't work in the IT field so it really means nothing to me. I even have Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and Novell Administrator. All things I got while coming out of high school and thought I was going to pursue a IT job.

 

Wish I could've started this out of High School, but in 73 didn't think there were many classes.

Inherited a fishing kit from a buddy of mine who did not take care of any of it. Has a pair of needle nosed pliers in it that were supposed to be stainless steel but are of course rusted shut. Smothered them in Kroil for a day but still couldnt muscle them open. Time to try some SCIENCE *kablam*
