new rocker sliders!!
Finally got around to building the weld in rocker sliders to replace the rotten/damaged factory ones.
The details: 2x4x3/16 box steel cut 58.5" long capped on both ends and welded to pinch weld on the bottom and just inside the door on top and then around both ends. 1.75" diameter DOM 1.5" long welded to the outer edge and 1x2x1/8" square stock makes the outer frame. Once the rocker was cut out the inside was hollow so to add support against being crushed into the body 2x2 square steel was welded to the top of the 2x4 to act as a "spacer." Once everything was welded into place I remove the kick plates from inside the door and drilled a few hole to access the inside of the rocker. I then filled the remainder of the rocker with Great Stuff to keep it all water tight and help add extra stiffness... I then painted everything. Sorry for the gaps in pictures....I get carried away in working and forget to take pictures.
Before
Taped off and first cuts
rocker cut out
Test fit
Done and in primer
Taped off for paint
DONE!!
And as soon as I get pics from my friend I'll have the shots four wheeling with them.

the fenders are just factory fenders that have been trimmed. The flares are from rustys offroad they are the flex flares....not paintable but definitely worth it when you rub them against trees and they don't snap or crush fenders

Wow, those sliders look good. For the slim price of $92 in supplies, I may have to do this considering premade ones that bolt up are twice as much. You did a clean job.

Yea plus a few hours in labor and paint, grinding wheels, sawzall blades, welding gas, wire. Other than that it was an easy job. Just take your time making sure cuts are straight and accurately sized other wise filling in gaping holes with weld or patch panels is not cool.
