Eeeeehhhhhhh not good.



I used a hair drier to help dissipate most of the condensation, and I tightened up the hex bolts. I notice that one of them is stripped out and doesn't appear to really bite on anything, and I'll bet that's the leaky culprit.

 

Pull it apart, put a light bead of silicone around the glass to it. I know people that have done that and sealed their light bars and no motor moisture in it. I never got around to doing it to my 24" one but I sold it before I really used it much.

The track bar bolt on the left side of the axle is being a pain in the ***. So it doesn't want to come out and I stripped it out.

So I'm going to try this new set of sockets that can supposedly grip even a stripped bolt:



Once I get that dumb thing out, I'll put the forged one in!

 

If you can weld, you can always weld a tab on the stripped bolt and have the tab hold the nut in place through the bracket hole.

 

If these don't work, I will try that as a last resort. I would first try grinding new socket grips onto the bolt head.

 

Starting on the heater core replacement today:

 

WOOT! I just did that nonsense... I'd rather pull my own teethe then do another. I had major problems getting the HVAC box back in. Instead of the nuts backing off the mounting studs the studs came outa the box. Made life a living hell getting it back together.

Putting in the new heater core and evaporator core:

 

It wasn't really that bad! It took me 2 hours to get the dash out, 1 to replace both cores, and I anticipate another 1-2 hours to put it all back together today

 

Most of my time was spent putting it back together. Just kind of a pita to me. I'd rather be building axles or a motor lol

 

Well, it's all back together now. Hot heat, cold AC, and no leaking.

Tried some things with the track bar bolt, and it's just not coming. Tried grinding bits off to put a wench on it, tried hammering an impact socket over it. No go. Will have to probably grind into the track bar bolt bracket.

 

It was all pretty quick. The only thing I was sweating bullets over was whether or not I accidentally spun the clockspring too much. But it looks good.

 

Is it the frame side mount that won't free from the track bar itself?
