They started putting them on newer Jeeps, I think.

But the XJ is definitely well-deserved of being recognized if the 2014 Jeep gets the badge.

So I'm really looking into the 784 injector swap.

I've heard really good things about it.

I'm also just waiting for Rough Country to finish up their bumper mount for their LED light bar so I can grab that too.

 

The passenger front tire dented in my fender AGAIN.

I think I'll take the dive and go ahead and order Bushwacker flats to give the front tires a little more clearance and to put an end to this silly fender crumpling.

I didn't want to do any modifications to the body, but I can't resist taking the Jeep offroad every once in a while and the blemishes it's putting on the metal are hard to watch.

 

I had the same problem, I took the dive a lot sooner than you did though...

Give it up brother, you own a jeep. Drive it like one.

I just did the 784 upgrade myself, and my opinion is like everyone else's. It makes a difference, but not very much. That little difference will pay for itself though. So it's definitely worth it.

 

add longer bumpstops. Problem solved

 

I was looking into this.

I found plenty of aftermarket bumpstops that are 2-inches longer than the factory ones, but I'm not even sure that would be long enough.

I would prefer to avoid hacking up my body.

So I might do that and then the extended factory bump stop to achieve it.

 

I did that too lol. After I extended the factory stop I only had to use one hockey puck.

 

This is what I'm worried about. At full flex, if I steer the wheel, it gets CLOSE. If I hit a bump WHILE steering and flexing, I can say bye bye to my perfect fender:



So today, I took a few measurements.

I might still do the Bushwackers for good and fun, but I'm definitely going to look into bump stops:





We're definitely capable here, but I could really do with some extra tire freedom.

 

are your lca's adjustable? You could always run 'em out an inch for more clearance

 

Yeah, they are – the only thing with that is, that would probably throw a bunch of stuff out of whack in terms of suspension geometry. Right now, everything is straight and perfect.

I guess we'll see what I can do about that, but in the mean time I'm trying to trace a small knocking sound coming from the engine/transmission area.

I want to cross my fingers and hope it's just a loose flex plate bolt – if not, I might have a slight rod knock. It's a very quiet and slow, but somewhat noticeable knocking. It sounds like it's coming from the transmission area, but it's hard to tell because it's pretty close to the oil pan. I'll have to really get under there tomorrow to know for sure.

I did go through and tighten the flex plate to torque converter bolts, and it didn't fix the noise.

It sounds exactly like this (EXACTLY):


It only happens when the engine is warm. When the engine is completely cold, it won't happen until the engine warms up.

Notably, my oil pressure is very normal. Sitting just under 40 at a warm idle.
