with a stick shift it's a battle to keep smooth throttle pressure over bumpy rocks and trails, while simultaneously working the clutch and brake. This takes care of the gas by holding the throttle in position. So i get up to speed, and set the hand lever tension to match the gas pedal position. It's a non-indexed shifter like on a mountain bike, so it holds whatever position i put it in, and i can vary the throttle using my thumb on my right hand while shifting, and steering with the left hand.

for some reason I was thinking it was a break lever instead of the non-indexing shifter.... your idea i can see working much better

Not much work being done at the moment. Got married a couple weekends ago and just been relaxing and catching up on stuff.
I'm planning a trip to Rausch Creek at the end of the month, so I have that to prepare for, as well as OC Jeep Week at the end of August.
Things to do before Rausch:
- Re-install front driveshaft
- Install steering box brace
- change out blown taillight bulb
- re-torque all nuts on the suspension and re-grease my zerks
- re-install rear locker (maybe, but probably not)
Things to do before OC Jeep Week:
- Re-paint flares
- wash + wax
- ZJ alternator install
Other than that the jeep has been running great! Better than it ever has, and for the first time since I owned the truck, I DO NOT BURN OIL OR HAVE ANY OIL LEAKS!!! Seems the oil filter adapter o-rings were the #1 cause of my oil consumption. That plus the new valve seals have essentially eliminated my need to add oil between changes. Before the fixes I would have had to add about a quart of oil every 1000-1500 miles.
This is after 2000 miles:

This area used to be covered in wet oil - now still dry as a bone and clean after 2000 miles:

Additionally, my ignition tune-up has had a noticeable effect on my gas mileage. I think the 19mpg is a fluke, but we'll see. I was averaging about 15.6mpg before the cap, rotor, plugs, wires.
