I had the same problem. Turned out to be from the oil sending unit it was just loose. I thought it was the head gasket also. May be worth looking at before you try replacing the gasket.

4WP here in town had a sale on pro-comps. That's what I got. They look just like the Cragar wheels.

$ is an issue though, isn't it? This whole thing has ended up costing a lot more than I anticipated, and I still need to get it to a garage to get the SYE done before the lift party.

I'm not usually fond of roof racks on vehicles, but I rather like them on XJs.

Idk I want to sell it, but I want to keep it at the same time.

And just took it back to my buds house(with my mom haha) and I drove it across a few deep ditches

That's a nice rack. I'm trying to figure out how to make one for mine since the online places want stupid money for theirs.

Are you going to wire it into the overhead console?

Once mine is back on the road, I'm going to hit PAP and start hunting for an overhead. I want to wire all future stuff into it and move my CB there too.

My next order of business after Stage 01 is complete is Stage 02, and that includes regearing, a front bumper, and maybe a roof basket.

I have no idea what direction to go in as far as the front bumper in concerned. I like yours, but also want the option of sinking a winch into it, and need mounts for recovery shackles.

Kudos on keeping the roof rack. Even if you don't typically store stuff up there, it's good to have that option if you need it.

I already have 2 holes in my console for switches that don't work so the wiring kit I'm getting Comes with a set of switches that will hopefully fit the holes, I'm almost positive they will because my dad has the same switch in his jeep.

And I wish my cb was up there, but it's already drilled into my console so that would leave more holes, and there are already enough of those in my interior so it's staying there.

And I wouldn't worry about gearing yet, I'm still on stock 3.73s and it's fine, I would do bumpers first, then decide on gears after youve driven it in different terrains.

As for bumpers, try to find a used one. New ones are way to over priced these days, but look on eBay they had some deals for 2 bumpers for 400$ a few months back.

And the defender is actually growin on me now, and I like that I can put coolers and my tent and spare up there, gets all that crap out of my cargo area.

Mine is running 3:55 gears at the moment. I've been told it's ok to run the 33's but it will feel weak.

I posted a thread over at MSJ about XJ Bumpers, getting some good (but expensive) suggestions there. I definitely think the bumper needs to come before the gears - I want recovery points on the front and the option of picking a winch if I run across a good deal later on.

Found a garage here locally with a lot of 4x4 experience that will do my SYE for $200

Planning on coming to the Spring Run? We need a good XJ crew!
