ok so My names Collin and im 15(friends call me cooter). i've been wanting to do a build thread for a while and just got my jeep a few weeks ago so why not.
...I really wanted a stock one(yes i bought it already lifted) so i could do the lift and everything myself, but almost 6 months of shi++y people on craigs and dealerships, I finally found the one. I just happened to check craigslist while i was in nashville, it had literally been on there for 1 day and i decided to text him. Ended up meeting up with the guy to check it out the next morning
heres the Specs:
2001 Limited Cherokee
Fully loaded/woodgrain/leather
factory tow package 3.73 gears
135k miles
chrysler 8.25 axle
5.5 lift (3.5 rubicon express aal lift, 3.5 coils, 2'' spacers/blocks/shackles, 6'' rc shocks, rc hd steering stabalizer
sway bar discos
tom woods drive shaft
jeep ravine rims
33x10.5 bfg km2s
offroad front bumper
defender roof rack with 4 pro comp lights/full size spare
flip out dash moniter/wired for subs/ sub box
after some talking to the guy about it, i talked him down to 3500$ since he was a landscaper and the inside of it was filthy and it has a broken ac, saggy headliner, rear end leaking. bad interior, needs all new exaust, paint is scratched all over, coolant resivoir is filled with mud. So needless to say i had my work cut out for me, but thats just the fun of owning a jeep! We worked things out and my dad drove back to nashville the next week and bought it. Ive had it about a week now, and have wasted no time.., so decided to start a build thread.
here are some pics of her from when i met the guy:
more to come down there.....v

he forgot to mention, that there was tabbaco EVERYWHERE in it. you name it, cigarrettes, dip cans, dried tabbaco, dip spit, I had to miss the first week of school because my sinuses got pretty messed up from all the tabbaco fumes.)
So the first week i got it i went to work on gutting it, cleaning carpets, taking out headliner, fixing coolant, painting some stuffs, and figuring out what i want to do to it.
I had to do a little modifications to get it in the garage... so off came the rack and lights,
decided i better wash her,,.
and started the tear down.
since its gonna be sitting for a few weeks, i decided to fix the shi++y speaker setup so i can at least listen to tunes while working on it. so a trip to wally world and 130$ later, i have a 10'' pioneer sub and 4 pioneer 6'' speakers, yes i know im cheap

started fixing the many problems starting with coolant, then tore out all the wires this guy had rigged up in it... at this point i realized out that i had bought a jeep from a guy who had no idea what he was doing.... more fun for me!
my dad started installing the speakers and re wiring the headunit. heres some progress pics of everythinh that went down:
all the wires that i tore out:
my dad rewiring
old speakers:
new speakers:
carpet cleaning:
and finally getting everything back together to see how she runs when shes all clean and juiced up/
ended up having to jump it off twice, ran out of gas and had to rev that thing all the way to the gas station and filled up 55$ worth and then drove about 20 miles or so and she did great, and the new stereo system was much better!

Hi Collin,
Nice Project you got there. And cudos to your Dad for helping you with the Jeep.
Where did you get the material for the headliner and sunvisors from? I need to do the same to mine and just love the Camo.

Appreciate the comments, it's been alot more work than I thought it was gonna be. And yeah my old man use to install stereos for a living and is pretty much a pro at it.
I actually used a the top peice of my full size camo sheets that I got at bass pro shops last year for the headliner, it's pretty thick so I think it should hold up

By the looks of it, you've got one hell of a head start on an awesome Xj. I have to give you mad props for at least getting a black one! Lol. I was 16 when I got my first Xj and I had two before I even turned 18 (which I'll be 18 next month). Buying them both stock was a bit of a challenge for me though, just took me longer to build them all up working a part time job. But welcome to CF! And good luck with your build

Awesome looking jeep. Congrats on getting such a great first car. I started with a 2 wheel drive jeep comanche and wish i could have found a jeep like that back then. Good luck on the build.
