Hey man... Just got thru your thread... Awesome XJ... I'm real jelous haha I've been 16 since 1-23 and don't even have a car let alone a jeep.. my plans are to get one soon.. I'm lookin at stock xjs.. and tryin to figure out all the stuff I want and I was curious about your lift... What exactly does it consist of? This is prolly a stupid question but you didn't go with a kit obviously so I guess my question really is.. What all would I have to do to a stock XJ to get a lift exactly like yours? Jw for $$$reasons... Sorry bout the novel I just wrote on here but whatever.. thanks for any feedback.. again SICK XJ

thanks alot man, i appreciate it i just got reaaal lucky and was able to get a car from my parents and resell it and buy my xj, that was already semi built.

as for my lift, im running a little bit of everything and sit at exactly 6'':
-a 3.5'' rubicon express lift kit. which consist of 3.5 coils, 3.5 aal leaf packs, 3.5'' shocks, and lcas- 450$ (coils/leafs are almost gone, shocks have been replaced with longer, and i just replaced the control arms)
-2'' coil spacers up front- 35$
-2'' blocks in the rear- 50$
-1'' r.e. boomerang shackles- 100$
-6.5'' rough country shocks- 150$
-rustys HD lower and upper control arms- 400$
-jks sway bar disconnects- 130$
-tom woods rear drive shaft- ???
-extended brake lines-??
(these prices arent exact)

but a kit would def be the way to go, rather than piecing it together like the p.o. of my jeep did causing me to pretty much have to replace the whole lift.

So in order to add spacers and shackles to give yourself more lift, you or the p.o. had to extend brakelines and the driveshaft... Anything else you have to change when adding spacers and shackles to a lift kit?

I agree with Izarebel - get a kit. I got the Rusty's 6.5" High Clearance Long Arm kit on mine, and it is a lot easier than trying to piece things together to create your own, and the components are made to work together.

going up an inch or so with spacers and shackles isnt as easy as it sounds.

-longer brakelines and longer shocks for sure.

and depending on your jeep and how it handles the extra lift:

-longer driveshaft or sye
-longer sway bar links
-possibly all new adj control arms

but a lot of people have gotten away without using any of those, it all just depends on how your jeep handles it. all of them are different.

Are the floor lights something that only came with the limited models? My sport doesn't seem to have them unless they are burnt out and tucked up somewhere not obvious..

They should all have them. My 98 sport does, and like yours probably are, were burnt out when I got it. I actually found replacement bulbs at Osh by accident one day, but I bet any automotive store would have them. Look for a socket where something looks missing(since it sounds like your bulbs are out). Mine are located under the dash, tucked up a little bit, and on the outer side. Left on the driver side, and right on the passenger side.
