Now my shifter LEDs are way too bright!
Have you done the Cascade flush yet? I gotta say, I was surprised the first time I tried it. Recently acquired an 04 GTP for the wife and the PO left the original Dex-cool in it and I didn't want to use any "acid" flushes like prestone sells.

I haven't yet. I'm not sure the best way to go about it, exactly. But I am definitely interested in it if it works good. I had a hell of a mess to clean up with all of the stop-leak the previous owner dumped into the system. And of course, the way the inlet/outlet design is on the heater core, it essentially traps all kinds of crud, which is why they so commonly get clogged when some idiot puts anything in the cooling system that doesn't belong there. How did you do it?

The way it worked for me, was to drain everything first. Then I just took the garden hose to it and started back flushing the entire system. I'm still a little shocked at how much nonsense was in there. Anyway I just flushed the heater core separate, then rad, then used the heater core hoses since they bypass the thermostat and flushed the engine until I saw clean water. Then I probably added a solid 3 or so cups of cascade to the radiator fill cap. I let her run the car for a couple days before I flushed it out with water again, and made sure it was completely water before I drained again to fill with dexcool.

DEXCOOL?! Yikes. I wouldn't ever put that garbage in any vehicle of mine. That's where all of your sludge came from, no doubt. So this wasn't on the Jeep, right? So did you add the Cascade to fresh coolant, and run it for 3 days just like that, and then drain and flush with water?

No, I added the Cascade to fresh water. I wasnt so sure about adding it to coolant. I also made sure that the system was all water after I drained it to fill with coolant again. So it kinda went like this: Removed coolant & flushed with water, then added cascade & drove it, then flushed with water again, then drained and filled with coolant.

As for dexcool, I dont mind it.. if the vehicle came with it from factory, I have no problem keeping it in there. I just keep up regular maintenance and it has never failed me. I even had a 3800 in a Monte Carlo that went 176,000 miles on the original lower intake gaskets! Although the gaskets started leaking oil so I replaced them. But enough with dexcool lol

Sounds good, I'll have to plan out my attack. I'm a bit hesitant to mess with water as freaking cold as it's been, but if I get this all done in a couple hours, I reckon it should be fine.

Ah.. maybe try shooting for a warm week I guess. I know I wouldn't be able to do that at home, but today it was 80℉ in southern AZ. It's actually a little frustrating having absolutely NO winter

Hahah honestly I would love to, as long as you have snow. I'm from Minnesota but I'm stationed in Yuma for 2 years for military.

Plenty of snow so far this year, but the single digit temps are getting really old!

You can hit up Tucson and get to the top of Mt Lemmon! It's a bit of a drive though, ha ha.

Yeah I've heard it's been a pretty rough winter so far lol. But yeah one of my buddies here has family in Tucson so we are going to head over there for a weekend and then venture on up to the Arizona snowbowl around flagstaff. This is my first winter in 25 years with no snow and it's depressing!
