Default Brown truck showed up with my Monstaliner

So I was sitting here eating a frozen pizza, and the Brown Truck Guy showed up and dropped off my package...

I immediately chowed down the last half of the pizza, and got ready to paint...

Did I mention that it is 105 degrees outside?

So I finished taping off all the windows, I actually included the window trim in the paint area since it is dull, beat up, and showing bare metal in some places... I hope that wasn't a bad idea.

Default Monstaliner exterior paint

I have been working on the prep for a couple days off-and-on and followed the directions pretty much to the "T". I sanded it, washed it (well, let it get rained on) sanded it again, primed any bare spots, washed it again, and finished with a MEK wipe down. It wasn't perfect/body shop work, but I think it will do for a weekend driver/trail rig.

My initial impressions of the product:
  • Delivered when expected (took a week and a half due to 4th of July, so they said)
  • Packaged well
  • Had everything included as it should
  • Instructions were clear and contained additional information

I chose Monstaliner mainly based on their claim that it is UV stable and will not fade like the other products on the market. Unfortunately for now, I can't comment on that, but we shall see.

As far as application goes, the instructions stressed to go slow, and lay it on thick. Well, I see what they mean, but due to the heat, I was having to go slow very quickly. I also think that these guys need to include a different type of roller (could be "operator error" though) but it seemed to get destroyed and started to leave a lot of particles in the finish. I should have changed them out (there were 3 in the kit) sooner before they got to that point. The second layer also did a decent job of hiding any particles that I didn't get pulled off.

I started with the hood and worked my way back. Would definitely start with the roof first, then the hood, then work my way back if I were to do it again.

Looks great. Like what you did with the cargo box. I'm looking at incorporating a few ideas from yours along with the one from Da2Door: https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f58/re...drawer-118094/

Let us know how you think that bedliner is gonna hold up. I have been planning on using the Krylon flat camo colors for mine, but the bedliner could be an attractive second option.

:/

You've done a great job. I wish I could say that I liked the look. Good job either way.

Maybe it's just me or my screen but that first picture of the Jeep makes it look like a nice bronze color. I really like that color.

Thanks man! Yeah, I think that is the incandescent light in the garage that gives it the tint.... If you check their website, you might find a color you will really like.... I just wanted to black it out all the way around... Just do a net search for Monstaliner and check out their "tint-able" colors.... they have some pretty wild ones....

As far as the build goes, due to my work/free time schedule and money availability, I am sort of doing the body in the reverse order... I guess it's because I know where I am going with it.... I am going to order my bumpers, and wheels/tires hopefully soon, if not it may be December before I get them done... Sometimes, you just "can't get right".....
