Quote: what did you use to paint the bumper caps and door trim? I tried the heat gun trick and it lasted for a few days before the it started to fade.

Got an overhead console out of a limited at the jy last week. Got it installed and it's working great. Just need to get the ambient temp sensor and it will be all done.

Also replaced my fan clutch cause my temps lately have been running a little high. Stays under 210 all the time now.

The next major step i want to accomplish on the xj, is to do a 4WD swap. I've been looking for a good deal on either a wrecked xj or a partout but no luck.
If i can find just a Dana 30 to start the swap before anything else that would work. And then acquire everything else later.

Good luck on the D30. That was the worst part to find for me. Took around 3 months and had to settle for a low pinion and pay way more then I should have. But it came with V8 ZJ steering and had 3.73 gears so that was a plus.

Yeah its been hard finding one for sure. I may look into a GC D30 cause there are so many more of them around, but i don't know if i want the cv axles.

I didnt want them either but its the only thing I could find. No issues so far. I am sure that when I go long arm, I will source out a HPD30 and build it. But this one does just fine for now.

Did you use one out of a zj or a wj? If i can't find a HPD30 thats the route i'll be taking.

I was told it was out of a 98 ZJ with a V8. Again, I was searching for one with 3.73s in it and it worked out perfectly. Just had to regear the rear and now I find it perfect with 31s.

I'll have to find one from a ZJ then. My worry is that it may be hard to find it with 3.55 gearing so that i can match my rear. I don't plan on rearing anytime soon.

I dont think you should have a problem. I am pretty sure the 4.0L ones still came with 3.55s.

I found my LSD 4.10 8.8 and my HP D30 with 4.10 gears (out of a 4-cyl Cherokee) using that used part search. Some yards want WAY too much, but many are reasonable if you call up and negotiate. You can sort it by distance so you're looking closer to you first.

You'll usually pay less at a DIY junk yard. But if you're not having luck at the Pull-A-Part, car-part.com will often have what you need.

Yeah iv'e looked on car part and every yard wants like 250$ up. That's more then i want to spend cause i'm going to completely rebuild the axle so that will be a couple hundred on top of buying it.

4WD Swap begins!
My 4WD swap has begun! Picked up a LP Dana 30 from a 98 TJ today. Scored it for $50. Only problem is the 2 lower control arm mounts are bent from it being in a crash. I know they sell replacement mounts, i'll just have to cut the old off and weld in new. Overall for $50 i think i did well. I plan on totally rebuilding the axle anyways. Also in the last picture there is a wiring connection of some sort connected to the wheel bearing. Is this for ABS?
