Hey everyone, been lurking around the forum for awhile. Finally decided to join since i got my first XJ a couple months back. I'm a freshman college student and this is my first jeep.
1999 sport, 4.0L, AW4, 2WD, C 8.25 Rear, power everything.

I've only had it for 3 months now, but i've completely gone through everything. Cleaned the interior and changed every fluid, spark plugs, new tires and all that jazz. Paint's not prefect but for a 17 year old south Florida car it's held up pretty well.
Don't know if i want to add a lift yet or just keep it stock. It's only a 2WD so idk how the lift would work out.

Welcome to the forum! Looks like a nice platform to start with! 2WD or 4x4 has nothing to do with lifting your XJ. It would be the exact same components regardless.
Just give it time though. You'll want to lift it eventually. Do a couple small upgrades as a "test". Paint the wheels black or put interior LED's in, and see if you don't become addicted. Whether or not you lift it, you've come to the right place. Lot's of people on here with plenty of knowledge. Just do some searching before posting new threads. Lots of common problems have been covered lots of times!

Already started working on the jeep again
Ever since i bought my XJ, it has been running great. But I've always had an intermediate rough idle problem. It only happens when engine is hot.
What happens is i will pull out of my driveway engine idling at 800 rpms, then for about 10-15 seconds the idle will drop down to 500 rpms, jump around then like nothing even happened it will go right back to 800 rpms and stay there until i turn off the car. Doesn't happen every time but 7/10 times this happens.
Cleaned throttle body, replaced tps, but still no luck fixing it.
So today i replaced the IAC thinking it should fix my problem but the problem still remains. Any idea what else could be my problem? Jeep still has the PO's cap, rotor, and wires which are mopar wires. Maybe original from the factory? lol

The battery is an advanced auto one from my truck. 800 CCA pretty good one. Not even a year old. The positive battery cable has seen better days though, was planning on replacing it along with the grounds. Negative cable is new also.

SWEET looking rig awork! Love the look of the lift and tire combo. Definitely need to get my windows tinted, especially here in South Florida.

At 190k, I highly doubt the cap, rotor, wires, and plugs are original. That being said, if you don't have the service history of the vehicle, a tune up is a good idea.
Btw, XJ's are not fans of aftermarket sensors. If that IAC you installed is not a mopar replacement, you might end up having problems with it. Same with the TPS. Always try and get Mopar sensors if you can.

Thanks for informing me on that topic TFitz. I know a guy that works parts at a Mopar dealership so i should be able to get parts at a discount now.
The wires are definitely original, cap and rotor seem to be newer, either way i'll do a tune up. Should i go with Mopar cap,rotor, and wires? Since i can get them for a discount or is there cheaper better options.
