Thanks man, I love the light they put out. My wife said I have a light fetish. I guess I do
But is that a bad thing? Ha ha.
Hey Luke! Thanks ya me too! Price of LED's are coming down but I'm thinking about HID for the headlights. I still need to go out and aim them properly. OH WAIT! thats a reason to go out and play with them..... I mean test them ya ya thats it test them!
Oh ya, stickers Thanks fo looking into it, that would be sweet. I forgot too. Hey no worrys. If you can Great! and if not then thats ok too!
But is that a bad thing? Ha ha.
Great build for a great cause. I've been wanting to look into joining a SAR if I can.
So, where did you get your air deflector and how did it mount? I might need to get something similar for my setup.

Thanks John! It looks like Teller County search and rescue is right there in your town of Divide Colorado, if I have your location right. I picked up the deflector on eBay and I think it ran around $50. The air deflector is a Thule. I put a screw at both ends into the end caps of the roof rail and then large zip ties all the way across on the basket.

18 Watt LED side roof rack flood lights.
So I changed out my 100 watt spot ditch lights I had mounted on the sides of my roof rack to 18 watt ea. 1350 LUMEN : ea. LED 100° ANGLE Beam flood lights. Even knowing that I just up graded my alternator to a 200 amp, I'm sure this will make it much happier in the long run. Besides, in Search and Rescue we often end up parked somewhere for long periods of time. Road crossings, check points for containment, on seine and at base. It will be nice to leave the engine shut off for longer periods of time and save on some fuel. That’s the real reason that I’m making the change over to LED’s. Even the yellow top will go dead if left on for too long. I must say they are much brighter than I thought they would be.

In these two pictures the light on the left is the old 100 watt, and the one on the right is the new 18 watt LED.

This is both of the new LED's.

I decided to add front bumper corner lights since I had bought two more sets of the LED's than what was really needed for my ditch lights. That just about covers all my exterior lighting needs but one. I'll show you that once I have it finished

Got a question for you...I'm getting a 2m radio for Christmas and will be buying myself a double trunked scanner to go with my cb for the XJ. Do you have any pictures if how your radios/scanners are set up in the cab? As well as your antenna set up. I have a 4' fire stick tunable for the cb. So I'm looking into other antennas as well for the Yaseu 2m 2900 75watt. Thanks

CB Radio, scanner, and VHF radio set up.
CB also holds my coffee cup perfect between the Cb and the seat lol

40ch CB, VHF Police/SAR radio and a scanner, so if I’m talking on one frequency on the VHF I can monitor the other frequency’s and hear if someone else is trying to get a hold of me. Sorry my dash looks so bad, I had just replaced the heater control unit and installed new switches for my rack lights

Antenna set up.
Here is what I went with. The stainless steel fender mount with a 102" stainless steel whip. Very important to run a good quality stiff spring. Especially if you run a whip or a fire stick because it will rip the screws right out of the fender. I’ve been running this setup for about 8 years now and other than an occasional tightening of the screws, (That has been once since installed) have had no problems. However, the best location for a ground plane antenna is dead center of the vehicle (for best all around reception).

Scanner antenna, I bought a splitter that lets you use the AM/FM antenna. Works very well. You can still use the AM/FM radio and you dont need to install another antenna set up. For the VHF radio I'm running a Maxrad antenna pretty much the same as the CB set up but shorter.
You can see it in the pic below on the passenger side.

Thank you for asking the question! You helped me make my build thread more complete. I remembered posting this and thought it was here on one of my earlyer pages, but then started looking back and found it was on two other threads. You might also take a look at thease for some more ideas and hopefully help you to see what you like the best
Good luck with the ham radio set up. Have fun with it!
