Was excited to get things done and was severely disappointed when we ran into that problem. Was hoping to have it completed and reliable enough to drive to Austin this weekend. Oh well. I'll have time to swap shafts next week and hopefully put the tcase in the Jeep next weekend.

Thought about my tcase situation. New plan is to tear into the old tcase and see what kind of loving it needs. if all it needs is a rebuild and a chain, ill order a rebuild kit and grab the chain out of the newer 242 that I was going to put in.

Checked out the old tcase. Its condition was suprising! It seems like in better shape than the one I was going to put in. Ill be ordering a rebuild kit, but Im left wondering about the chain. Trying to see if there are any worth while internal upgrades while Im at it too.

I've never done a transfer case before, that chain has way too much slop in it. Is there some kind of tensioner thats supposed to be in there? Or is all that slop from the chain stretching? Coach

Time for an update. And the update is that I don't really have anything to update about my poor Jeep. I'll be ordering the rebuild kit and a new chain for the 242 either tonight or tomorrow.
My main focus at the moment right now is getting another daily driver. I had my Nissan Frontier, but it got sammiched in an accident thanks to a great uninsured driver.

State Farm just totaled it and I'm getting little under 11K for it. So I'm thinking that its time for a WRX.
