MJ 9.5" long arm build
whats up guys and thanks for checkin out my build. well, its actually a re-build of sorts. the first build was 4x4 conversion, 6.5" short arm bastard lift. it has worked well up to now and never let me down, but there is always room for improvement. so here comes the custom three link. for now i am getting all my plans nailed down and material cut. as this is my daily driver i will make everything and then go for a sat/sun install sometime in early february i hope. for starters i made a universal crossmember that would give me some mounting options. my final decision on mounting is to hit all factory bolt locations plus weld them to the 1/4'' frame stiffys im making. i will include all measurments i come up with and let you know the exact amount of lift it gives me. here are some random starting pictures. how the truck sits now etc. a shot of the cross member and the material for the stiffys.

the material for the frame stiffys is 1/4'' x 6'' x 5ft. i got four pcs this size and it should give me material to trim around things and plate front to rear. the crossmember is 2'' x 6'' x 1/4'' wall rect. structural tubing that is 35.75'' long including the joints that bolt together.

I have no idea about the roll bar. Some guy on CL told me it was from manche but it wasn't. I had to put new feet on it because they were way off from lining up. I haven't decided on an exact lift height and probably wont untill I order coils. Its my dd and hardcore weekend wheeler, and I have a set of 35's I wanna make beadlocks for and use offroad. That's kinda the reason for going bigger. Well I got my cardboard templates roughed out, time to razor wheel some steel! Im not sure if the xj and MJ frames are exactly the same but I will put up the mesurments of the stiffeners i cut out.

Do you see buggies or truggies with gobs amount of lift? No,they are LCG rigs. Being that tall gives you more uptravel along with, higher roll center, more sway, more stress on parts, less side hill stability, and a squirrly ride. Keeping it low and allowing only 4-6" of uptravel and 8-12" of down travel is generally ideal. But to the OP I'm just offering some advice, its your rig build it how you want it- its lookin good so far
and the frames from the lower control arm mount-back are different between XJ and MJ.

9" of lift wont be that much on this truck, with the current lift it sits quite a bit lower than you would imagine. And going 3 more inches wont put me up that high. Im looking to gain the ground clearance from this lift. And with it being a long bed its already very stable and performs well offroad. I just want more flex and the ride you get out of a good long arm. Not to mention wheeling a large lift short arm binds up on alot of stuff.

And I am hoping that this long arm produces the farthest thing from a squirrly ride. Im doing all my links the same length and parallel. Which from alot of research should have the best overall handling. Im not sure the mfg date, ill check tomorrow
